: Just wondering what the "truly staggering
: power" was that
: the Ibis Crown was to have given the wearer.
: After Alric is crowned, a few dozen myrkridia appear, and
: the Heron Guard have to save the day - if only a handful
: of krids get through, Muirthemne is doomed. Not much
: power
: on evidence there.
You would be correct in this if the krids you let through were all that were comeing. Remember the city was "over run by Myrdridia". That phrase denotes great numbers and even a powerfull arch mage would have difficulty fending off that may critters as tough as the krids.
: When we next see Alric, at the Foot of Tharsis, he is
: powerful only due to Balmung. Within Tharsis, where he
: forgets to bring the sword (doh!), he's back to the
: dispersal dreams he had in Madrigal, and a bit of magic
: to break off a hunk of rock.
I think Balmung was broken in his fight with soulblighter, and before that the crown could have augmented its powers.
: So ... was the Ibis crown truly powerful, or was it
: really
: just a hoax to prop up the ailing Cath Bruig empire?
Now thats a thought I like. I think the Ibis crown is powerfull, but could its powers have been exagerated by the scibes of old Mirthimni? We must investigate this one!
