First off, let me say that my last post was mainly for entertainment. I thought it was an interesting twist to put on this sad event.
However, I also intended a message to us all. Bungie is lost as an independent develeper. This would not be so bad if it had not been lost to a monopoly that grows stronger every day, and has on more than one occasion used questinable tactics to destroy compition.
I do not hold anyone currently with bungie in any contempt. They did what they thought was best for their company, it just hurts me that as creative and helpfull to the free compition of the gaming community as they were that they sell out to such a monopoly as Microsoft.
To say that I have not helped the monopoly in a small way would make me a hippocrit. Even as I write this I am on a Win 95 OS. That said, I have made the decsion today not to buy anymore Microsoft products if at all possible. I will not up date my system untill a more competitive OS becomes avalable. You think I might be in for a long wait?;)
Sadly, this means I will not be able to buy Bungie products anymore. Its not that I dislike the company, its simply that I am afraid that Microsoft, encouraged by this deal, will continue to buy out other small creative companys untill even the larger, well established game publishers will have to join microsoft or be pushed out off buisness.
Happily, none of this affects my assosiation with the Myth line or its off shoots, hopeing against hope that Take Two will produce a good Myth 3. And that Dan will finaly publish that Myth novel we all know he has hidden away;)
