: Someone suggested that The Head is
: Moagim, but I don't think even ex-great heroes can
: survive as severed heads unless the power of the
: Leveler is still backing them up, and in that case The
: Head would have helped Balor, not worked against him.

My theory is that the head was lifeless, just lying under the ground dead, until the Deciever, with an intrigate plot to destroy the nine, the watcher, and prehaps all the other Fallen Lords!, and in return for a chance to avenge his defeat at the hands of Balor, and as a sighn of gratitute for bringing him back from the dead, the Head swore alliegence to him. However the head remained buried but kept alive by the Decievers magic, this allowed The Nine to sence and unearth it. However the head fed them false information, and when they found it was a tool of the dark, many former legions of the light rose unexpectadly in defense of the head. Now lets think, the head doesnt seem to have any magical powers... hmmm who do we know that likes to convert his enemies to his side? Ill give you a hint, it starts with a D.

: and in that case The Head would have helped Balor, not
: worked against him.

Why would Moagrim help Balor, the hero who defeated him? Remember that Balor was Connacht? Moagrim would probably hate Balor more than anyone.
