We dunno that, actually. All the texts actually say is that they believe "their god, who resides in the air, is strengthened by the escaping breath of the beings they sacrifice." "Breath" may be equivalent to "soul" here--plenty of cultures believe that a dying person's soul leaves his/her body with the last breath--but that's not certain. It may simply be that b'Y'laggo, as an air spirit, is supposed to be strengthened by certain ritually-produced air movements.
