The Skrael think that--as long as they die in battle--they're reborn seven times to avenge themselves, and then each of *those* incarnations can be reborn seven times and so on, and that this is how the race continues.
Most religions accept that great heroes and villains--anyone at or above Fallen Lord/Avatara/Archmage level, basically--can be reincarnated.
The Trow believe that when they die, they return to the One Dream. (Obviously the Trow can't reincarnate, since they don't breed.)
