In Response To: Re: Unsolved Mysteries (Qui-Gon Gandalf ~TMBM~)

: I think that in general the Myth world is pretty much
: identical to that of J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth.
: This may or may not be related to the topic of
: Forrest's post so here's a good place to decide
: whether to go on or stop. ;)

: Ok here we go. First of all, this spirit of the Leveller
: seems to be a lot like Morgoth, the first evil of
: MiddleEarth. Both worlds have ages. The First Age in
: which middleearth was built by the valar and the wars
: against Morgoth, and so on as like the Mythworld with
: the Wind Age and such. Each Age has a hero, Beren to
: M.E., Connacht to M.W.. One difference in this though
: is that none of the fallen M.E. heros come back to
: destroy the world. But, seemingly the Leveller can't
: die and has been thrown down before, just like our
: favorite lord of the dark Sauron of M.E.

: The Avatara seem to be almost identical to the Istari,
: the Wizards. Each has special individual powers.
: Though Alric went on to become an Emperor, and Gandalf
: did not...
: Now for some races of creatures parralleling.
: Orcs and Ghols are a lot a like, with the only major
: changes that ghols wear no armor, and the Ghols and
: DWARVES are enemies instead of the Orcs and ELVES. I
: know you're probably thinking, wait, there's no Elves
: in Myth! Oh but aren't there? Elves seemed to be
: masters of the bow, sorta like our friendly
: neighborhood fir'Bolg.

: Now I come to the Trow, which translates into Troll I
: belive in some Germanic language..maybe I'm drunk but
: anyways, both are big strong meanies. Both turn to
: stone. Both have an enemity with their tree
: counterparts, Ents and Forrest Giants.
: The Fallen Lords all seem to go along with the big baddy
: of the time, as do the Nazgul, although the Fallen
: Lords in my opinion fail to get a cool clothing theme
: going while the Nazgul dress in those kick-ass black
: cloaks.

: Now, I'm sure there are more comparisons but I'd like to
: share the obvious differences I have observed.
: There are no Hobbits in Myth ;)
: The plots are obviously different to avoid copyright
: infrignement.
: And numerous other things that I won't go in depth to now
: because I have just gone outside looking for the dumb
: oil dipstick for a lawnmower and have lost my train of
: thought.
: I know this is a topic been discussed before but...what
: the hey, why not again? ;)

: Qui-Gon Gandalf ~TMBM~

I think the stoory is the same too! Look at how in LotR, at the end, there was a desprate army, and the only hope of wining was a magic artifact! (it may be that in Myth it was used and in LofT rings it was detroyed, but that is a techincality). Also if you dont want to use the elbis stone as the magic artifact, look at the head of Balor. But then agine, almost evry fantasy story is based a bit on Middle Earth.
