Well, the spirit wouldn't shoot up then because the Fetch is genuinely dead, as opposed to when you "kill" it with swords or arrows; in the later case, the Fetch isn't dead but its skin is so tattered that Wyrd catches sight of it and yanks it up to a horrible fate. Methinks the fetch are semimaterial, just like everything else in the spider-world.
