After the Leveller is defeated, the spirit does leave. But apparently, when the Leveller is beheaded
(ALL levellers are beheaded. At least two wer for sure. Unless you think you can throw a leveller's head in the fireplace and get rid of it, you gotta believe at least 3 were. And unless you think the Encyclopedia is wrong, you gotta believe all were)
the Head lives on. Look at Balor's head. If Alric didn't think Balor's head was going to keep right on livin' (obviously without the Leveller spirit, since the spirit wouldnt want to hang around in some guys head for the next thousand years) he wouldn't have tossed it in the great devoid. I guess it would be more accurate to say that The Head is Tireces, driven mad due to the Levellers control of his body, watching helplessly through his eyes as he destroys all he fought so hard to rebuild. It would drive anyone mad...
