When bungie creates a game (actually, most any company, I imagine), they lay down details, maybe a storyline, and start workin' on it. During development a game (or story, or graphics, or anything) will undego changes. However, almost always, the only version the player sees is the final version.

Take the switch between Stoneheim and Myrgard's roles in the game. this wasn't someone screwing the two cities up, this was a change made during development. Also, what of the final movie clip in TFL, where it looks like Alric gets wasted? Obviously he doesn't... but that doesn't mean that it wasn't Bungie's original intention.

The point is, no matter how "secure" you think a theory of your's is Ares, it could be based on the toss of a coin in an office down in Chicago. And even if proven true today, Bungie could turn around and release a Myth 3 that does a 180 on previous "truth". The situation is thus: we can guess at what someone at Bungie was thinking, what they wanted to get across. But unless it is spelled out in the game, manual, a press release, or letter to the god of war by someone at Bungie, that's _all_ you, or anyone else has: guesses.

This ends this broadcast of "You may be right, but pissed reader = deaf ear turned".
