: Is it doubtful because you think the fallen would want to
: give him a proper burial, or because you think the
: body itself had some inherant value? Personally, if
: I'm an undead freak wandering around mindless after
: the dreadful death of my leader, I really don't care
: what happens to his body.
: Point: in the game, no other fallen lords are present
: when Balor is killed, to our knowledge.
: Point: Balor's will bound the Fallen to himself. Without
: him, most weaker (and undead) "units" would
: despair and do dumb things (what does an undead farmer
: do when he doesn't want to kill his neaighbor, anyway?
: ;-).
: Point: Alric was the last "good guy" to leave
: Balor's side. If Balor had magic armor on, surely
: Alric, of all people, would have known this and
: stripped him of it.
: Taking these things into account, and with us not knowing
: if Balor's body can be used to divine the location of
: water, why would anyone bother to hold onto his
: carcass?

The fallen would want his body because its the body of the Leveller. He's like a demigod, and his body would have to have some really potent enchantments on it, not to mention the armor. Soulblighter, we know, was around after balor's death, and was after his head, which probably means there was something important about that too.
Alric, I believe, would have left that carcass for that legion of myrms and fetch that was coming at him. We know that the myrms and fetch survived the death of balor (GURPS sez it, GURPS told me to say it!), so that legion of enemies would have easily wiped alric off the face of the earth, and he didn't want that. To hell with the armor, I'm outta here.
Soooooo... who cares about the body? Soulblighter does. After failing to get the head, he goes for the next best thing: the armor and the body.
