: in any event its doubtful balors body was just left to
: rot after its death at Rhi'anon.
Is it doubtful because you think the fallen would want to give him a proper burial, or because you think the body itself had some inherant value? Personally, if I'm an undead freak wandering around mindless after the dreadful death of my leader, I really don't care what happens to his body.
Point: in the game, no other fallen lords are present when Balor is killed, to our knowledge.
Point: Balor's will bound the Fallen to himself. Without him, most weaker (and undead) "units" would despair and do dumb things (what does an undead farmer do when he doesn't want to kill his neaighbor, anyway? ;-).
Point: Alric was the last "good guy" to leave Balor's side. If Balor had magic armor on, surely Alric, of all people, would have known this and stripped him of it.
Taking these things into account, and with us not knowing if Balor's body can be used to divine the location of water, why would anyone bother to hold onto his carcass?
