I've already got an idea for my character (I'm using my RPG character). You already know who he is and what his destiny is, but I've thrown in some changes. I've dropped the inversed-cycle theory; he is destined to usher in the new world, finding all 49 Dreams of Wyrd and becoming His Avatara, only 50 years from now (that is, in 2590 AE).
Throughout his many lifetimes he has constructed artifacts of great power - boots which let him move indefinitely fast, jump indefinitely high, etc; gloves which turn his hands and forearms into infinitely sharp, unbreakable blades; a pendant which makes him invincible (but not immortal; he still ages normally and dies on schedule, but people, diseases, etc, cant hurt him); and a crown giving him the ability to see and manipulate all of space, time, matter, and probabily, which is the final key that shows him who he is and lets him find all 49 Dreams.
(The crown, though does have its limits. He can see all of space and time and probability and can move to there/then, but can't affect them remotely with his matter-manipulation skills. Likewise, his matter-sensing abilities that give him telepathy and the ability to see inside objects only work locally, not in different space and time. And he could move to a different time, then to a different space, and then to a different timeline - but he can't do all three at once).
He has had 51 previous lives, taking every other one off to be a normal human being. Each life was precisely, to the day, 80 years long. 50 lives in 4000 years. He took one off until 30 years after the Great War, and now, in his prime, he's begining his last and greatest life of all.
In his adventures he will discover those artifacts (in the order listed, decades between each), and meet other characters, and if we carry the story far enough into the future, maybe even become the Avatara of Wyrd at the ripe old age of 80.
Other characters may want to play off this, knowing the locations of Rune Stones (which he is curiously drawn to, though he shuns the use of powerful magic) or possessing some of his artifacts (which are rarely used; they have a tendancy to have negative effects on everyone but Hermes: the boots and gloves tend to bring people into situations bad for their health, the amulet makes the wearer age prematurely, and the crown is instant death). He's also out to bring all the races together into balance, which folks like Ieuan can play off.
