: This whole new link brings up a new question. Did
: spider-gods really exist? I say probably since the
: Smiths of Muriethem (excuse spelling) seem to have
: insanely powerful magical abilities that havent ever
: been equaled by Trow, Leveler, or Avatar. Only gods
: could give mortals such power.
A: Keep in mind that most of what we know of history comes from the last light/dark cycle. It may well be that in every Light Age the civilizations achieve such magical and technological glories. Just because none of the nearly-exterminated Light races could make a Tain while they were being stamped on by Balor during the last 500 years doesn't mean they can't do it when they're on the ascendant.
B: Don't bet money on any assertion that begins with, "The Trow could never equal..." The Trow can do just about anything in my opinion. Their civilization was never destroyed, remember; they dismantled it themselves after conquering every race they ever came into contact with. They wiped out a race with the magical muscle to rip a bottomless hole in the ground and kill everyone for hundreds of miles in every direction; as far as we now, they were the first to develop the Dream of Unlife.
C: If the Smiths of Muirthemne were Leveler-class powerful, when faced with the threat of Connacht they would have done something other than run away, get trapped inside their own refuge, and get wiped out by assorted beasties.
D: Bottom line: I don't wanna see no one givin' no dorfs no respect, see? They'll be wanting equal pay for equal time next.
