While light can be bent by a strong magnetic 'field', the chances that it would be going in the same direction afterwards are quite small (small in the subatomic sense of the word...). Anyway, light can't escape the event horizon either, that's why it's black. Through the ommission of particles 'created' at the event horizon we can so see the black holes... a white backgroung is emitting light. The light from behind where the black hole is would not reach us, and so we would percieve an area of blackness, a black hole in our white background.
