I have four comments to make about this thread.
(1) The Asylum is a forum for debate. One cannot simply make a post and then unilaterally declare one's opinion undebatable.
(2) It is our job to deal with and attempt to explain contradictions, not merely to say "that's it, that's a contradiction, case closed."
(3) Quibbles over the semantics of words in quotes do not tend to lend themselves to profound and ultimately fruitful debate.
(4) I think that Ares is right, there is a contradiction in the literal interpretations of the words of those sources. I would conclude upon further analysis that the Myth II introduction is the weakest source, and that either the legend the child knew was inaccurate, or it was merely making the point that when Alric was slogging through the Dire Marsh, he probably wasn't as regal and kingly as when he sat on the throne of his nation. I am not, however, content to say "OK, that's a contradiction" and defy any attempt to explain it.
