Funny that you emphesize the word CLAIM. Yes, CLAIMed is the right word. RECLAIMED means that he TOOK BACK what he had BEFORE. This is not debatable, it is the definition of a word in the English language! Yes, he had a CLAIM to it. You can't RECLAIM what you NEVER HAD, therefore he must have had it before. You are mixing up the noun and verb form of the word CLAIM.
