Hrm... Shades have those big mahir-like shadows under them. Perhaps Mahir (the plural of Mahir is Mahir) and these shadows, who go out killing while the Shades sleep.
An interesting level in some solo campaign would be to fight your way through or around some big field of Mahir and blow up a bunker full of sleeping Shades, killing the Mahir along with them. As a matter of fact, that would be a good level for the little scenario SiliconDream, CryoBlue and I were working on a while back.
