However, the Myth2 narrator (about sixty years later) says that Muirthemne was destroyed 110 years ago. So the in-game texts agree with GURPS. I think the TFL narrator must just think of 39 years as a "few." Given the long lives of Myth heroes/villains, the slow rate of cultural evolution and the heavy historical emphasis, mebbe Mythworlders just don't think of time as passing as quickly as we do.
