Yikes Ares... I'll confirm that you did post about that topic in the old VR FutureMyth forums, but I hope you're at least partly joking with the rest of your post. This is my first visit to the place in about two months and I don't
Would I that all of those old posts were still available for perusal. We covered so many things back then... and ideas tend to be recycled after some point. Without being a regular visitor to this location I'd guess that at least 50% of the "new" ideas here were already discussed there and in the Codex fora... but that doesn't necessarily make it not worth discussing.
Back in the days of the FutureMyth Myth II forum, I posted many ideas (under the name of "Mobius") that, interestingly enough, appeared to show up in the game in one form or another. My unit ideas included a creature ("The Converter" - and yes.. we discussed possible connections with the Deceiver back then) that can turn units from enemies to temporary allies, and another - prolly the most controversial discussion back then - being the "gunner" character idea. Not that I claim any special attention from Bungie... perhaps it was more convergent thinking, or just the fact that I'm a forum postin' fool and covered a lot of areas when discussing Myth.
Bah... just enjoy the game, and maybe enjoy the discussions about the game. Credit can be imporant for intellectual property issues, and I'm all for giving such credit where it is due, but I'm just trying to say that at this late stage in the Myth community, every issue has probably been analyzed to death about seven times by different persons. How much benefit can anyone reap from such credit with regards to these discussions?
:::Noc turns more reminiscent and introspective:::
It's a little sad to see the Myth community age and decline. Like a favored relative, growing older and more feeble. I've lately been wondering at what point I should just take Myther.Com down and pack it away until it may possibly be needed later. *shrugs* But that's the life cycle of games, and I've already moved on to Halo fan-aticism even though we may not see the fruits or Bungie's labors until 2001.
Bah... I've rambled, as I used to in the Myth fora. But before I close up this mess 'O pottage, lemme suggest a little bit of advice to the young, teenage basement denizens here (from one who was a card-carrying member): take a break from this stuff now and then. Get outside, take a hike (no really - take a hike!) and get some fresh air. Go on a date. Most of all... plan out your futures (as much as you can) and take advantage of opportunities to gain new experiences, because in ten years you don't want to look back on the last decade and wonder where the hell all of that time went.
It is fun to stretch your mind in the forums, games and other computer-related things. But if you can't identify a single 24-hour period in the last week without computer use there is definitely something wrong. (I've been there)
Only the very first bit was directed at you, Ares. The rest is just ramblings which I don't expect anyone to necessariy pay much attention to. Take care y'all. =)
