: So that was an antimatter explosion, resulting from the
: head reversing itself in time, eh. The head does look
: like Balor. They both have the wide, bony face and
: lots of dark hair. However, wouldn't the Nine
: recognize it? Everyone knows what Connacht looked
: like.
From what I remember of the comic (I had to delete my version recently,) Connacht has relatively light hair, blue or green eyes, and a much more delicate face. He looks much more "Aryan" (in the popular sense), whereas The Head looks like a Bruig. Is my memory fux0red?
: Also, the deaths of Shiver and the Watcher maks no sense
: in this context. According to GURPS, she was the most
: powerful of the fallen. She would eb an odd one to
: dump. Plus, I doubt he'd want to lose two of the
: Fallen.
For that matter, why need The Head do anything? The Nine was pretty much beaten before he showed up and started giving them hints. He could have done more for his cause simply by trying to roll toward the Avatara and bite their ankles as soon as Truan brought him back. :-)
You could always say he had to orchestrate it all because that was the way it had played out when he lived through it as Balor...but I don't think you really need bother. There's not much more to the theory than there was to the Moagim one--here's another big bad guy who lost his head, so maybe he's *the* Head. Except that this is even less likely, since it involves time travel. No offense to the people who came up with it--it's good that it was presented for discussion, but I think it can be dismissed fairly quickly as having pretty much no textual support, and one or two solid objections (Why didn't the Head act to support the Dark wholeheartedly? Why didn't the Nine recognize it as Connacht, as you say? Why don't the Devoid's time-travel capabilities show up anywhere else in the plot?)
