My friend,I think that you do not appreciate the fight that Alric gave.Without him the land would surelly be under Balor and later under Soulblighter.There was nothing he could do to stop the slauthter.Besides in a war like this sacrifices were neccecery.He gave hope to the people,for the first time they push back Shiver(It was Rabican under the leadership of Alric who did it.)All the others avataras had great respect for him(that's why he was the leader)
I hope that you don't believe that he was just a person who was seeking glory.It would be easy to join Balor (like the other fallen lords)and not risk his life insteed of facing him.
He was and still is the defender for all the empire.
