First of all I want you to say that Bungie did very well keeping Alric alive.(I like this guy very much)
He is the main star actor of the story(he and Soulblighter) and he is the connection for the two stories.
About your question now,MYTH TFL as original had an amazing storyline,every step was full of suprises and unexpected actions.MYTH 2 is an exelent sequel,connecting the facts in the right order.Furthermore the new units gave more interesting in the game's plot.
But I think that TFL was more dramatical story.
Anyway,both of it are great games.I can't choose.Each game has it's magic.
Do you know if we are going to have a MYTH 3 from Bungie ?
