: The problem is, the fourth Leveler described was
: destroyed by fire, as Balor certainly wasn't. If
: anything, Balor would have been the first, who was
: beheaded, but then how would we know about the next
: three who are yet to be? (And don't say the Codex). So
: there are four Levelers mentioned that we don't know
: of,

But what I was trying to say was that the Leveler whose "body was destroyed by fire" *wasn't* the fourth Leveler. He was the *third*, and he lived in the Third Era. His body was destroyed in the Fourth Era because when he died the Third Era ended. This guy is Moagim, I think--we never learn elsewhere what became of Moagim. Balor is the fourth Leveler, whose head was thrown down the Great Devoid in the newly born *Fifth* Era.

: Er... the fir'Bolg king was ou'Kahn. He and Caliban
: forged the truce between Humans and fir'Bolg.

Yeah, but if you don't assume that Caliban=Alric, you have to ask whether ou'Kahn is the present king or not. Unlike Albrecht, he has nothing which contextually ties him to the present. I figured the Sword Age was some relatively early age and Caliban and ou'Kahn were two ancient leaders. It doesn't matter, since I now accept that Caliban and Alric are identical.

: Hrm... that's an interesting theory. Could be, though I'm
: still fairly sure it's an early name for Alric. Josh
: says so, and he was a beta tester.

Yeah, well, when I'm grown up I'll make sure to beta-test every game, program, and law in the world!! Including the Constitution!! Then everyone will listen to me and your vaunted Josh will slink back to the shadow-haunted obscurity from whence he came. But in the meantime, I guess I have to agree. Maybe Alric received his present name upon coronation--all the kings of the Province are named Alric, or something.

: How do we know Mazzarin died at Tyr? We know The Watcher
: attacked Tyr, but is that where Mazzarin died?

Uh...I heard it on the street. You know. Informers and such. Grease a couple of palms, call in a couple of favors, bust a couple of kneecaps--that sort of thing. Yeah. You'd be amazed how much more the Yakuza knows about Myth than anyone else does.

: What!? The Wind Age ended 500+ years ago. Do you mean the
: Wolf Age, which was Balor's reign?

No, he died in the Wind Age! Check your own encyclopedia:
"...his death the most salient victory of the Dark during the Wind Age." Either the Dark got in a lucky shot before Connacht finished them off, or the Wind Age includes a Dark Half (sorry, Stephen King). I think the Wind Age continued up until Balor's death, and the Wolf Age was the one before, which ended when Connacht killed Moagim. He's known as the great hero of the Wind Age, though, because that's when he pushed the leaderless Dark back to the Edge of All.

: I saw that on the Story page, and searched my copies of
: Myth (different versions) and the Myth TFL CD, and
: ditto for Myth II stuff, and couldn't find any of
: that. I have the 1.0 TFL CD and 1.1 Myth II CD, and
: all the updates. Is it on yours?

Says on the Story page it's on the 1.3 version *CD*. I don't think it comes with the 1.3 update. I really know nothing about this. Ask Hamish.

: As for the indigenous peoples, it certainly does seem to
: invite Myth connections. Though the more recent Halo
: info seems to have no mention of the Pfhor or any of
: their client races, as it includes ponderings on
: whether humanity is alone in the universe.

I'm hoping at least one of the alien races we meet is the Pfhor, or another Marathon species.

: Perhaps the timeline changes in Infinity prevented the
: rest of humanity from even hearing of the Pfhor, with
: Tfear's contemplations in the Infinity manual of
: changing their old ways, thus not neccesitating the
: war with humanity, and Blake and his crew not
: neccesarily returning to Earth. But then where did
: Durandal go?

(Sorry, everyone--we'll stop talking about Marathon soon) The Marathon's journey to Tau Ceti took 300 years or so, and it took up to 17 more years for Durandal to return and warn Earth about the Pfhor. The events in Halo could take place anywhere in there (human technology in Halo doesn't look that much more advanced than the 300-year-old tech on the Marathon, so Halo probably doesn't take place after the Marathon series). Durandal says he warned Sol of the impending invasion; he doesn't say they didn't already know of the Pfhor's existence. Maybe they fought the Pfhor on the Halo and thought they'd beaten them for good.
