Yeah, but with the origins of the gods, that's all the past, and we don't really need to know it (unless you think we could deduce the gods' motives and from that know more about the present state of the cycle). But with the cycle, that involves the present and the future, which are what we really need to learn about. Why are the gods? Because they are, that's the nature of gods. But why did Alric win this time when he was supposed to lose? That's the kind of question which can and should be answered.
