: I dunno about anything but your first question. According
: to GURPS, Alric shouldn't have won. Soulblighter's
: attempt to shatter the Cloudspine might actually be
: thought of as an attempt to get the cycle back on
: track by making this a Dark Age. Or, it might be
: thought of as a further blow to the cycle, since by
: getting himself killed he destroyed the best candidate
: for the next Leveller, so that this unnatural Light
: Age may continue for an even longer period. Either
: way, Alric's victory was the first thing that damaged
: the cycle.
However, if Alric dies sometime soon and bad things like Soulblighter keep happening, the cycle could still be on track, just not with precise timing (like the comet and Tharsis and the climactic battle between Alric and Balor all being 50 years late). Also, if you subscribe to my 8-Era inverted-cycle theory, Alric's winning this Great War is just what's supposed to happen (Soulblighter's return can be overlooked). Or, the cycle could be fux0red.
