But he turned it over to his superiors in the next journal entry. If he'd tried to burn it before than and found that it was inflammable, I'd think it would have been worth mentioning. So I doubt that he tried to destroy it.

Good thing, too...as Borges pointed out, the burning of an infinite book would produce an infinite quantity of smoke and suffocate the world. I wonder if the Myth team read "The Book of Sand?"
