Basically, GURPS in one place talks about Segoth, and emphasizes that his head is still alive and speaking. In another place it talks about The Head and says, "Research into ancient practices suggests that this enchantment was performed several times in the past--perhaps through some combination of Soul Jar and variations of the Preserve Food and Voices spells." It's up to you to put them together, or keep them apart, depending on what you want to do with your scenario.

Why not? The Head's previous identity was never a vital issue to the plot. Of much more importance were his character and motivations, and GURPS didn't add much to that.
And look at how much important info we got out of the TFL comic--an explanation of how Shiver was defeated, the fact that Rabican thought of Moagim during the battle (which is generally put forth as one of the most important pieces of evidence in the Head = Moagim theory), the fact that the Tain connects to another universe, and a nice little history of the Mythworld since the first living beings were created. Bungie clearly has no problem giving us large amounts of information outside of the game series, information that weighs heavily on major plot points.
