We've discussed this one in length earlier in The Asylum, check archives for more info.

Anyway, remember that the Head had decieved Alric, and there was no head really. Alric was just wandering in the Barrier looking for something which didn't exist.

Well that's what the journal writer says anyway. Perhaps it does exist, more on this speculation can be found in the archives.
