I would more imagine "The Faceless Man" to be one who has a talent for disguise, that no-one could recognise. Book to read for this idea would be "Memnoch the Devil" by Anne Rice. In this book, the devil disguises himself among the common man, by being The Comman Man ( I think she uses the word "Average"), a man of appearance so uninteresting as to attract no attention at all.
