Alright keep your hair on!
The interview says that at the begining of a thousand years period, the Great Hero defeats the Leveler and begins a 500-year period of good. Then the Leveler appears again and buggers the Light, begining a 500-year period of evil.
For a start this changes what GURPS says, which is that the Great Hero and the Leveler have a 1000 years of rule.
Now let's look at the ages in GURPS:
Axe Age (Trow's Golden Age) - Pre-history
Age of Reason - Tireces defeats the Leveler and then returns as Moagim.
Wind Age - Moagim defeats Great Hero but is killed in the process.
Wolf Age (or Age of Light) - Connacht defeats new Leveler, Moagim reborn and returns as Balor.
Sword Age (or New Age) - Balor is supposed to defeat Alric, but doesn't and so the cycle is buggered. Alric defeats Balor.
Newest Age
Ok, Axe Age is pre-history so we'll leave that out of the cycle.
The Myth II epilogue says that Moagim ended the Age of Reason by appearing. Now, we know (from the interview) that a 1000-year cycle starts with a Leveler being defeated and 500 years of Light. So how the heck can Tireces return as the Leveler to begin a new age UNLESS that new age is the second part of a 1000-year cycle. So the Ages that we know about are 500-year things. One up for Myth!
So now we have:
(note that all events described begin the age written next to them)
Age of Reason - Tireces defeats the Leveler.
Dark Age - Tireces returns as Moagim.
Light Age - Great Hero defeats Moagim.
Wind Age - Great Hero returns as Moagim Reborn.
Wolf Age - Connacht defeats Moagim Reborn.
Sword Age - Connacht returns as Balor.
New Age of Light - Alric defeats Balor.
So this is the order of things, assuming that GURPS was right about the Axe Age = pre-history thing.
Hang on, doesn't that mean that the cycle aint broken???
Oh sod it, I'm off to watch Taxi Driver. Maybe I'll come back later and finish off.
