: Our tale of myth, fantasy, and love takes place in the
: days before the dreaded Balor. A time when Connacht
: ruled the Cath Bruig and everything was well in the
: world. Damas was a Lieutenant under the mighty Emperor
: and Mydred was a powerful mage. Enter Ravanna, a
: smart, powerful and *then* sexy woman. Damas is
: immedietly attracted to her and seeks her hand. Mydred
: however has an eye for her as well. He doesnt seem to
: much like the ladies man to me and at this point in
: history he is a pretty old fella, but he does love
: her. Ravanna at this point she isnt evil and everyone
: else really isnt either. But she is...ambitious.
: The beautiful Ravanna at first chooses the hand of Mydred
: over Damas. Connacht, assuming the port of Thesus (if
: anyone gets that they win a prize, think shakespeare's
: play a midsummer nights dream) is sad for his
: subordinate Damas, but he cant do anything despite him
: being the Emperor. Damas, a man of ambition and
: genius, cannot move on. He must have Ravanna as his
: own and begins to plot the demise of Mydred and/or the
: destruction of the Ravanna-Mydred household.
: Now our friend Damas, hes a smart guy. He knows to
: competely discredit Mydred but highten the social
: position of the beautiful Ravanna at the same time. By
: some clever way or another (i could specular for years
: on the specifics) Ravanna leaves Mydred. Enter Damas
: back into Ravanna's life to be there for her, and
: to...understand. Ravanna, ambitious and on the
: rebound, hooks up with Damas. Mydred is enraged. But
: since Damas's affiliation with Connacht, he decides to
: do what he does best...wait.
: I think Mydred has full or at least a good part of the
: knowledge of the cycle. How else has he lasted so damn
: long? And through so many drastic changes as well. He
: knew eventually the time would be right to strike at
: Damas.
: Many Years later...
: Connacht is reborn as Balor, The Leveler. While he still
: holds his aquaintences, his priorities in life have
: changed just a small bit. =) Mydred knows Damas has
: been toned to the will of Balor, and is now known as
: the one who blights souls. He also finds out, that
: somehow either by the will of Balor or Soulblighter,
: the beautiful Ravanna has been turned to Shiver. His
: feelings still run strong for her, and his time for
: revenge is forthcoming. Mydred joins the side of the
: dark for a number of reasons: 1) Self preservation
: 2) a chance to win back Ravanna, and nail SB to the wall
: 3) a chance to quarrel with The Watcher once again
: 4) anything else Mydred can think of doing
: 5) whatever else Balor promises him, more power most
: likely
: So the Deciever is born.
: The Deciever would have made his move in Myth 1, but
: Shiver was too far west. The Deciever could not get to
: her before she got zapped and knocked out for the rest
: of the game. The Deciever again...bides his time.
: Sixty one years later, Soulblighter is on the verge of
: defeat at the hands of Alric and the Legion.
: Soulblighter, because he too still loves Ravanna, has
: resurrected Shiver with the aid of his dark magiks.
: Now the Deciever makes his move and defects. This puts
: him in the free reign position to go where ever he
: please. And he pleases to go after Shiver.
: "But that sucks," you say. "Shiver and
: Mydred both get whacked by magic. Nah, they didnt.
: Both of them faked their deaths...together, i am sure
: of it. The Deciever is one of the most powerful
: non-avatar beings in myth. Shiver, while powerful,
: pails in comparison to him. Even the mighty Mad Goat
: of the Fens has a little bit of tough luck dukeing it
: out with The Deciever.
: I am hard pressed for time here, typing fast, because I
: leave for a week shortly and cant look up the
: conversation in Myth2 between The Deciever and Shiver,
: but for what I can remeber it definetly coincides with
: my theories. Perhaps Forest or another would like to
: post it as a response to this article. I would be
: greatful.
: But at the end of Myth2, Mydred finally gets his girl,
: after so long. Mydred is smarter than everyone takes
: him for, but everyone respects him for very different
: reasons. I wouldn't call him evil really. More like a
: good-nuetral mix. He puts the good of the universe
: second to his personal ambitions. I really dont think
: anyone was evil before Balor. When Balor crashes the
: party it seems like everyone is drinking spiked punch.
: The Deciever didn't go after SB himself because he knew
: the pendulum was swinging the other way, and SB was
: being brought down by Alric. Why do the dirty work
: when someone is already taking care of it for you. I
: wouldnt call Mydred a coward, but he got what he
: wanted...after so long. The beautiful love of his
: life...Ravanna.
: Well thats what I think. It is a little outlandish but I
: believe things fit together in the way, or definetly
: near to the way, I have described them. I already can
: see some inconsistancies with the idea but thats okay.
: Please respond!
Well, the Watcher was evil back then, he seems to be the only one who is truly evil throughout the last one or two thousand years. Shiver just seems like she was evil then too, you can tell with Balor and the Deceiver that they were once good, but Shiver has no real sign of this. The same goes for Soulblighter, who in my opinion always had evil intentions and used his place in Connacht's army to do things normal people wouldn't have access to. As for my response to this, I am going to post my own theory that touches on this idea of a long triangle, but it's more about The Head and Soulblighter, how they planned to take over the world together. Look out for that!
