: The D is definitely the more powerful magician than SB,
: but SB has other skillz that more than make up for the
: disparity. When the D gets one of the crows what he
: does is make sure SB can't just fly away at the first
: sign of trouble--which will allow Alric to corner the
: faceless wonder at Tharsis--but maybe also it gives
: the D some insight into SB's plans, i.e., flooding the
: wall. It's also possible that information came from
: some other source; Alric had plenty of scouts out, I'm
: sure.
My feeling from reading that journal entry is that the threat to the dam was a fairly obvious one, and the Light forces didn't need Myrdred to warn them. After all, when the bulk of your forces are in a river valley just downstream from a flimsy dam, fighting an army most members of which either can fly or don't need to breathe, and which is *not* the bulk of your opponent's force, it's going to occur to you that the dam is a weak point which needs to be guarded. Certainly it would occur to Myrdred, without any need to magically discover SB's plans.
: BTW, what's the connection between the Lurker and floods?
She's called "Bheil, the Twice-born Daughter of Flood and Famine." She specialized in "weather and plant-control spells." But the danger for flooding of the Ire river was due to the Dark's assaulting Lesotho Dam, not to excessive rain or anything like that. So it's unlikely that Bheil had anything to do with it.
