: ...that I could now answer my own question as well,
: having just downloaded the comic. According to it, the
: Trow kill any race that comes into conflict with them,
: save the "younger races", who have yet to
: really have a conflict with the trow (they fought with
: balor, but this was his fight, not theirs).
They used to KIK every new race that came along but they seem to have stopped that--sickened by what they did to the Oghres or something.
: So, the forest giants could not have fought the trow, or
: they'd be dead and gone. This is the only explaination
: I find, though it's weak: "When asked of the
: source of their animosity towards the Trow, all were
: silent. After a time the eldest among them looked down
: and seemed to weep, 'It was they who poisoned the soul
: of iron.'"
The bits about the soul of iron have always been some of my favorite hints, even if they are so vague. It sounds like some of the mythologies of cultures where metal is still a new thing and therefore venerated and personified rather than taken for granted (like we do) and suggests that the Trow's relationship to their weapons was more intimate than say, a warrior's with his shield.
: Sorta like Forest Giants were some sort of elemental
: protectors. Eh, who knows.
Or maybe that the Trow invented the Axe and, by association, the Timber Industry. If I was a walking tree it would piss me off, too.
: I got a real kick out the the trow with swords though.
: Mmmm.
OMIGOD! A PUN! I GET IT NOW!
