Hey Stinger,
Well from the Comic we know that the Trow are the children of Nyx, one of the dark gods. They were his first and most perfect creation, but lack the ability to reproduce like the Forest Giants. So as time goes on, they are greatly weakened by their decreasing numbers while the Forest Giants can maintain a social structure with the ability to repopulate. (We know they can reproduce do to their flavor texts mentioning the actions of the 'youngest' among them.)
Anyways, we also knwo that the Forge is a sacred place for the Trow and as Forrest pointed out in a post a while back, an unused sound called what Soublighter stood on in the level called 'The Forge' the Anvil. This would mean a place of creation, usually in the sense of metal working or such. So the Forest Giant's have such animosity for hte Trow due to their poisoning the soul of iron. They did this by creating iron weapons, as seen in the one Comic story.
After this time they have since repented for their actions and have sworn never to use or craft such evil things again, but hte Forest Giants still despise them for brining iron weapons into the world of Man. I hope this answers your question in enough detail, if thee is anything else you need, just post it here and you will surely get more than enough information to answer your question.
Sincerely,
Pimpy™
