I've always thought the guy in the comic was Myrdred (aka the Deceiver) in his avatara getup. The other avatara (with the exception of Rabican) in Myth:TFL wear similar cowls (though their faces do show), and the roll call of Connacht's lieutenants has always been Myrdred and Damas, not Damas and some guy nobody ever heard of. My guess is that Myrdred would have stopped wearing the avatara costume when he became a Fallen Lord because he didn't want people confusing him with Alric (or Bungie didn't want this to happen). As for that thing around his neck? Maybe it's supposed to be a weird artist's rendering of the tain.
