: I was just looking through the When section o' the
: encyclopedia, and I zipped to the end to see what the
: last entry was. It was about Balor decapitating the
: head. Hang on a sec, didn't GURPS imply that the dark
: gods decapitated the Head? Ah well, GURPS must be
: wrong, seeing as though the source that Forrest refers
: to says that Alric spoke of the battle when the Head
: lost it's body to Connacht. Not nessecarily! It seems
: that either,
: a) Alric was wrong, he was a bit lucid at that point as I
: recall.
Illucid, you mean (not to be confused with Elucid). Lucid means sane, in your right mind. "Alric grew more and more lucid toward the end...". He was dazed and addled after hanging in mid air out in the desert for days, but he grew more lucid as he walked about and interacted with friendly people (talking with the Deceiver and Balor doesn't really help with your sanity).
: b) GURPS is either not implying that Segoth is the Head
: or is wrong.
: c) The battle that Alric speaks of is a battle between
: Segoth and the Leveller (i.e. the Head and Balor). The
: dark gods decapitated Segoth, so the Leveller must be
: a dark god (who created himself!).
I was thinking C, but didn't comment on it on the page as I don't comment things, I just report them as they're given. Myth said Tyr fell in 2468 ("twelve years ago" from 2480), while GURPS says it fell in 2471. When I update the Encyclopedia with GURPS info I'll make a note of discrepancies, so for the date I would put "2468 (Myth TFL) or 2471 (GURPS Myth)", and I would put entries for it at both 2468 and 2471 in the Timeline. However, since there's no date given for the Head's decapitation anywhere (other than the vague "dawn of time"), I won't make any note of that. He may be Segoth or not; I think he is, but the Encyclopedia isn't what I think, it's what is said.
