: Watcher, imprisoning the Trow, trapping the Myrkridia
: in the Tain. Was he already under the influence of the
: Leveller, or was he just such a nice guy that he never
: killed anyone?
Remember, the name is not The Destroyer, but the Leveler. His only goal is to keep balance, so he traps all his foes for "later use". Connacht knew he would come back as an evil entity, and in order to keep balance on the planet, he eliminates the evil for the time being, but makes sure he can come back to them as Balor and use them. It's simply a case of being well-prepared :) He reused almost everything he captured, but this time to help him.
