Who's "The D'? :)
: Maybe he already knew mind control before joining Balor.
: Who knows, maybe the Orgre revolt was masterminded by
: The Deciever in an attempt to weaken the Trow. Or
: maybe not.
Here's my two cents on the whole Oghre-Trow War and Callieach deal. My opinion, though pretty rough on the edges is that the Callieachs created the three races Forest Giants, Oghres and Trow to combat the Myrkridia problem. The Trow became angry for whatever reason and began lashing out at the other races. Now, if the Deceiver masterminded anything, he would have been the backbone to the Trow's plan, not the Oghres. The Forest Giants, being the panzies that they are, hid in their forest home, but the Oghres struck back and a large war broke out. The Callieachs tried to stop it and ended up siding with the Oghres, so they were now on the hit list. The Oghres eventually fell to the Trow and the Callieach devised a plan to kill themselves and take their horrible creation with them. The Deceiver (perhaps a Callieach, I don't know) caught wind of this, afterall, it is the Wind Age:), told the Trow of this, thus saving many lives and the Trow were grateful for all he had done for them. As mentioned before, the Trow are very civilized and it's apparent this is attractive to the Deceiver, so he wanted the Trow to prosper and develop their empire. That could be their earliest known connection.
