Parts of it do. But parts also correspond to the Romans, assorted South American empires, the Japanese, and Finland (I assume the whole "cannibal baboons worshipping large rocks" thing is based on Finnish culture).

GURPS also mentions horses, saying that the main reason Alric doesn't have cavalry is that he hates horses. So we see why most Myth knights wouldn't be mounted--rather than being a sign of high rank as it was in the Middle Ages, it would be a sign that they were willing to royally piss off their emperor.
