: But knighthood was and is associated with the concept of
: elite *mounted* shock troops. There's no getting
: around the fact that knights almost always acted as a
: cavalry force.
Oh contrary, as the Francish would say.
In a particular few centuries, in a particular few countries, knights were mounted. The word "knight" means simply the military servant of a high-ranking lord, and as such there have been knights at all times and in all parts of the world. The fact that we remember the Knights of the Round Table most vividly has little bearing on this. It's like saying you can't be a king if you don't wear a gold crown with a spiky top.
Besides, this is the Myth world, and in the Myth world...
Stygian *Knights.*
'Nuff zed.
