: I made a theory while eating breakfast this morning and
: just wanna know what everyone thinks about it. Now I
: know it's not stated anywhere by Bungie, but if you
: look at it through my point of view...no..you probably
: still wont get it :)
: Anyways, my theory is on what a mahir really is: Mahirs
: dont really have good solid bodies right? They glide
: around in a nifty shadow of darkness cloud thingy and
: drain the "life" out of people. Now, take a
: soulless. Men who's souls had been stolen by
: sorcery...get where I'm headed yet? What if Mahir were
: really the lost souls? Notice when they kill things,
: the skin is pretty much gone? What if they're taking
: the skin so they can find their soulless counterpart
: and become whole again? Huh? Now isn't it allllll
: clear to you now?
Problem:
Mahir are traumatized ghosts according to GURPS; the souls of people who died under particularly horrible circumstances and have some reason to hang around a particular area and be mean.
However, perhaps Soulblighter just tortured a bunch of people to death by slowly lowering them into the hot lava of Tharsis; that would explain why Soulless have no legs, as they would be burnt off in the process. It would also explain why there are so many Mahir around Tharsis.
The one hole in that theory, though, is that - according to GURPS at least - Mahir exist in our world to further their obsession in life, and linger around areas of some significance to their death or their obsession. So the Mahir who attack your forces around Tharsis must have either died there while fighting the Light, or had some connection to there for anothe reason. Why would there be so many evil LIVING people (you can't die if you're already dead, so Thrall, etc, don't count) dying around Tharsis? Was it an old execution site, throwing criminals into the volcano? Or if they didn't die there, then what is their obsession with Tharsis about?
