: Oh, this just reminded me of another unit idea I had!
: Unarmed combatants. No armor but leather and their own
: hide, no weapons but themselves. They run VERY fast,
: able to catch Ghols, and have a fast
: punch-kick-punch-kick type of attack, beating the crap
: out of things. Since they know just where and how to
: punch and kick, this type of attack would be much
: stronger than the stupid little fir'Bolg punches.
: Too bad you can't knock people out in Myth; but this unit
: could crack his enemies' skulls open with a slower
: (perhaps mana-based) special attack, and just beat
: them to death otherwise. Kinda like Blackhand's PHAT
: KUNG-FU TRO BOI, except not a TRO, and with TaeKwonDo
: instead of Kung-Fu (cuz TKD RULES!). I could help you
: make sure the animations are correct, since I'm a 3rd
: degree black belt.:-)
I was thinking of something along these lines--a quick, ninja-style character with major unarmed abilities. Normally they'd carry a knife, and melee-attack with it (they'd wear tunics/robes with loose sleeves, and stalk around with their hands together and their knife concealed inside their sleeves, then whip it out for a lightning-fast slash), but they'd also have the ability to throw the knife, and until they picked it back up again they'd switch over to martial arts (although TKD would be cool, my personal preference would be Muay Thai--I wanna see the unit execute a Zerk with a shin kick to the temple).
This would realize one of my fondest dreams--a Myth unit who has fundamentally different attack animations depending on whether or not he's holding a weapon. Not just "sword" vs. "magic sword" like Alric, but "knife" vs. "fists & feet."
To complete him, scripted invisibility or some other stealth power. Maybe 50% transparency and the power not to show up on the map, so you have to really search to find him. I was thinking maybe these guys could be relatives of the Myrmidons, the only members of that tribe who *didn't* join Balor--they have an extremely bitter feud with their undead kin, and became forest-dwelling ninja types in order to hide from Balor and the Myrmidons' wrath back in the pre-TFL days. Their knives would be made of the blue gridaksma metal, with hilts of Myrmidon bone.
Another idea--the iron-using Tro from the days before the Oghre wars. A Trow with scale armor and helmet and a frikkin' huge broadsword or iron quarterstaff. He'd be slower than an ordinary Trow and unable to cross really deep water or steep terrain, but he'd be tougher, immune to arrows, and his melee attack would be unparalleled in range or power. I don't know if this would be classed as an uber-unit or not, but it would be awfully cool to see on a high-powered level.
