In Response To: Whats with Phelot (Jenova)

: I'm new to this forum and would like to know if anyone
: knows anything about Phelot, I have played M1 and can
: not find any reference to him. Is there some hidden
: thing behind him or did bungie just add him in to try
: to make a better story for M2.

MWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAH! Welcome to the asylum. Please feel free to share in our madness:)

I have waited for someone to bring this up. I think Phelot was more important to the story about the Deceivers feud with the other fallen than we suspect. Unlike most of my other theories I have some hard facts to back this up with.

Fact 1) Phelot was the shade who destroyed the forces in Avons Grove during the Great War. Most people Believe that he was leading a detachment from The Watchers army at the time.

Fact 2) Phelot(obviously) survives the destruction of The Watcher and Balor. Then eludes Arics hunters for a time until they stopped looking for shades and other minions of the Fallen.

Fact 3) Phelot takes up with Shiver and Soulblighter but is in fact loyal to the Deceiver.

Fact 4) The Deceiver was trapped in the ice caps of the north for 59 years. Leaving him no time or power to win Phelot to his camp.

These are facts. The following is theory.

What if shades can be forcibly converted to serve to one of the Fallen? If this is possible it would take a tremendous effort to do it, but it would mean that shades, a valuable resource to the Fallen would not necessarily have to be killed when they confront each other. It is conceivable that this process would be very painful to the shade, making him a little un-willing. Remember when at the Seven Gates you had to kill that shade? Remember how he kept gording you on after him. Remember how he was trapped? You Do? Ok, than consider this. That shade was probably the Watchers(given that he had the most ofem) and he was trapped. Also he was cut off from any hope of a timely rescue. After all the Watcher may have beaten the Deceiver but he was in a hurry plus the remnants of Rabicans army as well as the legion were following him; trying to re-take the pass. If the Deceivers forces remaining in the pass were to capture him it would be bad, from his standpoint anyway.

The point of this is that Phelot could have been stolen from the Watcher by the Deceiver when they clashed earlier. At Tyr maybe? Than stolen back by the Watcher. This of course would not make the two close partners; but when I think of the complexity of the Deceiver I begin to wonder. If he is so good at binding things Could he not bind Phelot to were he could be "re-capturd" by the watcher, then used as a spy?

Its an intriguing thought. Besides how else can you explain his betrayal of Shiver when he had no connection to the Deceiver in our experience?

Feed-back needed

Respectfully as always,

Drunken Ghol.
