: This is the most likely explanation, although I dont
: beleave the Fir'bolg developed archery in the Ermine,
: but on the plain of scails. The probobly adapted their
: tactics to suit the forrest tarrain after they where
: established.
You'll notice that all the Ermine units other than the animals--bre'Unor, fir'Bolg, Changelings--have a distance attack, so clearly such a thing is useful in the forest. You're probably right that the fir'Bolg adapted earlier technology, though. A large bow is unnecessarily cumbersome and slow-firing for forest work. I wonder if they'll switch to smaller bows, perhaps crossbows or blowpipes?
: I think this was a gameplay consideration, it would not
: do for 6 Archers to wipe out a whole platoon of
: warriors simpley because they where faster.
Well, they could simply make archers more valuable, so you could only have one or two--but you're right, multiplayer games would take hours to wrap up if the faster units had distance attacks, and just stayed away from their slower enemies while firing arrow after arrow. Of course, that's a problem with Myrk Giants.
