: We could say that you have a pool of pts equal to your
: age x 10 + 400. Assigning those pts to skills costs
: 1pt per 1 skill pt. Assigning those pts to attributes
: costs 2pt per 1 attribute pt but you must still remain
: within the min/max attribute values for your
: character. The fact is, those rules were written to
: try and get people to play characters who were average
: in stats but interesting in backgrounds. You don't
: need to change rules just to show that he was talented
: and not skilled. The rules are for an inexperienced
: character who has begun adventuring which is, IMHO,
: the best and most fun type to play. But people have
: chosen different characters making this more
: difficult.
In fact, sod this bit! Standard character is 200 attribute and age x 10 skill, but you may spend 4 skill pts to get 1 attribute point to a maximum of 300 attribute points (in total, not 300 extra!). You can also sacrifice an attribute point to gain 4 skill pts but you must stay within your race's min/max attribute level.
