: When I do the full RPG, I'll give some examples of
: intense training but for now you can count each year
: of legion training as 20pts which must be spent on a
: skill that the legion would teach to their grunts,
: such as Parry~Sword, Broadsword, things that are on
: the GURPS template.
Gotcha.
: We could say that you have a pool of pts equal to your
: age x 10 + 400. Assigning those pts to skills costs
: 1pt per 1 skill pt. Assigning those pts to attributes
: costs 2pt per 1 attribute pt but you must still remain
: within the min/max attribute values for your
: character. The fact is, those rules were written to
: try and get people to play characters who were average
: in stats but interesting in backgrounds. You don't
: need to change rules just to show that he was talented
: and not skilled. The rules are for an inexperienced
: character who has begun adventuring which is, IMHO,
: the best and most fun type to play. But people have
: chosen different characters making this more
: difficult.
But average characters with interesting backgrounds aren't *fun*! You whip up an epic tale of your character's origins, and then you're done. Nothing interesting is ever going to happen again, because your character can't accomplish anything out of the ordinary. This is my theory which is mine, which I made, and I own it.
I do have another, more attribute-ordinary character, but she employs a bit of magic. So since YOU haven't made the magic rules yet, I'm FORCED to go with Ieuan! :-) Unless you want to allow the power of shifting points between attributes in-game to be an ability, rather than a spell.
: Ah ha! I don't know what you mean when you say Berserks
: because I didn't do a zerk race profile! I did a
: Northman profile, but not all Northmen (and women!)
: are zerks now are they! If you were a zerk character
: then you would be able to go faster because of
: training and stuff!
Touche, Wallace. BUT--Northmen "have different characteristics than normal humans!" They have different attribute levels! Ahahaha! Your mad zerk loyalty betrays you once again! Or are you saying that Northmen are naturally better melee combatants and worse ranged combatants, but for some reason their running ability is the result of training? Ha! As if! It is to laugh! Credo! Certe! (runs out of sarcastic phrases in English, switches to Latin)
Thanks for the info.
