: True--although I don't think the Dark ever actually got
: into the Ermine. I think the fir'Bolg simply got
: scared when the Dark got too close, and made their
: truce.
There was probobly alot of scrmishing on the edges of the forrest, and some major battles where fought on the fringes. The forrest is a wonderful screen for any one wanting to out flank the fortified citys below the Scimander river with a large force.
It may be that the fallen where able to penetrate further than that, but where stopped by what ever home guard was in place. It may explain the Fir'bolg reluctence to leave their home again.
The main problem with conducting a standered campain in any wooded reagon with rough terain is that formations of men can be broken up and destroyed by much smaller troops(explaining why a home guard could fend off the might of a fallen lord). An example would be the defeat of both Union and Rebel troops by iregulers in East Tennesee during the american civil war.
I realy dont know why I wrote this. Maybe for lack of a better post? Feel free to rant at me for taking up space with matterial that does not pretain to the spirit of the thread.
