: If it is irrelevant, why has it got the most responses?
: Anyway, I dissaprove greatly of the whole matter. In a
: place of competition one can't take that sort of thing
: too seriously. I know that it's an American line and
: stuff, but this is quite enough, thank you. Gender and
: sexual preference are not issues of extreme relevance
: to the playing of Bungie software (although I do

: boy this sure kicked up a fuss, though...
Personally, I'm pretty hard to offend and the posts in question were so transparently meant to cause a problem that I just ignored them. Had Killing Duck really meant to ask for our support and help during a difficult period in his life it would have been another thing but this was clearly a matter of a group of children (they may be college age but that hardly stops them from being childish) sniping at each other. It obviously offended some people on this board and therefore I agree with the decision to ban the parties involved, but I think the best response would merely have been to boycott Killing Duck--that is, to not give him the response he obviously wanted. Banning him clearly didn't work, for one thing; for another it banned everyone at that university, which is probably meaningless but who knows--it might have stopped someone really interesting from getting on this board.
