Hehe. OK. important things in a background:
Major events in life (read what willy has to say about the battles and stuff. Don't go making up something about you wiping out entire legions with a flick of your finger)
Birthplace
Family
Education, travels, etc.
These are just some basic things, but you really should listen to willy. A background is not a single event. It's an entire lifetime. Don't write a few sentences about your character's whole life then a page about one event. It should all be pretty even, spread out, etc. Um... that what you wanted willy?
