I think that was his point. A Ghol is just like a Human, except it's shaped a little differently and has social stigmas.

Which should make for some very interesting character interactions! A good guy who other people tolerate but mistrust because of his race. Saying you couldn't be a member of a stigma'd race would be like some RPGer in the 50s saying that a black character couldn't partipate in the RPG because he's got social stigmas against him. But that's makes for an interesting character! Particularly if you have a triangle-type arrangement, where one person likes the stigma'd one and another hates him, but the two people are otherwise best of friends. It put strains on the relationship, and makes interesting plays on emotion.

I agree about not having a whole lot of mages. That's why I designed my character the way he is - I wanted a big, important, powerfull character, but I didn't want to dominate the whole campaign and crush resistance effortlessly. So I made him a wandering scholar, an earthy man who refuses to use powerfull magics, even though he seeks them out simply to know them. I like Silicon's character too, because he's not just another human, but he's not a big powerfull warlock or anything. He's disadvantaged, really, though he's got the combat skillz to counter the social disadvantage.
